if you go to www.hansvanharken.blogspot.com You will see that I made a couple new posts. I talk about how an increase in escapism is changing the standard for the way entertainment is being presented. I also talk about how different run times in visual mediums effect how powerful your story can be.

SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE MENTIONED:

I added all the Ace Pilot cutscenes to my youtube channel. You should subscribe cause I'll be releasing stuff on there in the future. Some of my old stuff, some new stuff. I'm really thinking of starting to take my youtube account more seriously. I'll be making loads of these types of updates on my twitter "HaVaHa". so follow me there if you're interested in keeping up with this stuff.

I'm even thinking of doing some live video sessions on Live Stream and we can all hang out and talk together about movies. Much like how I talk on my blogposts. But involving you dudes. There's nothing on my account there now. But I'm only going to start it once I get a handful of people interested in hoping in. Check it out here.

*EDIT* i made my first practice session on live stream. check it out!

I MADE A COUPLE NEW BLOG POSTS

In case you hate playing games you can watch all the ace pilot cutscenes on youtube here.

I put each clip into a playlist and added a new ace scene change logo at the beginning of each one! Hel us spread the word! We're already working long and hard on episode two... very exciting cause thats when things get real interesting in the story. :)

remember to follow my blog and/or my twitter, i'll be starting up some live stream sessions pretty soon related to the process of ace. it'd be cool if you guys jump in and interact.

Also thanks for the great responses! it was our first big game and we've learned a lot from the experience. With that knowledge we plan on making each one better and better!

love,
Hans.

hey guys!

I got a new blog post up, some thoughts i had after watching tin tin! no spoilers but it it does help if you've seen it, if not, I'm sure you can still get my point.

check it out here!

Also! Ace Pilot is being released next week! the long wait it nearly over! It's an incredibly exciting moment for me. Once it's released I'm gonna be spreading out those advertisement posters all over San Francisco, and probably other cities across the globe throughout the month!

Can't wait to see what you guys think!

NEW BLOG POST! I TALK ABOUT EXPLORING VS STRAYING CREATIVELY

Posted by AlmightyHans - January 19th, 2012

I submitted 3 posters advertising ace pilot to the art portal a while back. From then I've tweaked them and printed them into post card sized ads. My plan is to mail a few to people I know in some major cities so they can spread them around as a form of advertising the game once it's released this february!

I was pleased to see no printing errors and the colors turned out to be pretty vibrant. (hint: always brighten up whatever you print cause ink prints darken your work since you work on a screen made of light)

This is super exciting stuff for me, and I might give some away as prizes in the future for some top secret reasons ;D

also, don't try to use your phone to scan that code now. I dunno if it works taking a picture from your computer on that phone scan thing, but if it does, for now it'll take you to a blank page since it's meant to direct you to the page where ace pilot can be played.

check the prints out here!

check out my latest blogspot post!

So we've been tweaking and testing ace pilot like crazy. It's been decided to release Ace early Feb. 2012 coincident it closer to the NG redesign, and after Abobo's grand release. It's honestly turning out pretty epic. And it's been great getting all the feedback and suggestions to further improve the game. Thanks for all who've provided that. SO helpful.

As for me, I just turned 22 on Dec, 28th. And now I'm in Barcelona until the 5th.

Since i'd been visiting family in spain for christmas I had decided to go to london for 3 days on around my birthday with my brother. so we got a short flight and stayed at a chill place.

My brother hadn't seen it and I love london so much. And since we don't see each other often, I figured we'd take advantage and visit while we're both in the same hemisphere at the same time. It was great. I saw all my favorite spots and best of all got pretty fucking drunk with my brother and argued and talked about lots of shit. good times.

I even took a picture of him in the spot under the London Eye where we always take the NG meet up picture.

Happy new years everyone! last day of the year.

ACE UPDATE PLUS: MY TRAVELS

Posted by AlmightyHans - December 19th, 2011

Yesterday was officially my last day of work for ace pilot 1! and what great timing because i'm writing this in the SFO airport waiting to depart to london to ultimately visit my family in spain for christmas. I have finished all the art assets voices menu designs i needed to do for ace pilot. 100% completed! The final nuts and bolts are being assembled tightened and tweaked. It's been one hell of a year with a lot of ups and downs with that project but at last it's coming to an end. a very good one I might add!

I'll be in spain until december 26th. I'm visiting london with my brother from 26th to 29 celebrating my birthday and the city I love so much. then heading back to spain to barcelona for new years. finally I come back from this trip Jan 10th. and work on ace 2! haha.

I have learned a lot with this project and feel more than up for tackling the next one because of that. Not only techniques and knowledge about animation, games, flash, maya, after effects, and even spic music making and sound, I also learned a lot about working together with a relatively big team and how to work with people literally at all 4 corners of the world and all the difficulties in communication that come with that.

To me it is unreal the feeling i've been having getting this project finished. all good. It is kind of a dream come true to be honest. And I have to thank the entire team for it. none of it could be done without them. My best hope is that everyone else will at least appreciate it a fraction of how much I already do. Your reactions will reveal that soon!

Anyway! I need to board my flight soon. Wish me luck on my trip!

I broke the usual level of consistency in my news posts because Ace Pilot is finally coming together. we are in the final phases of that beast of a project!

I wrote a new blog post called "What Happened To Star Wars?"

below is a picture of our Ace pilot organized drawing board. I blurred out the scene names to avoid spoilers.
;D
