Hans! Why did they block your review? I thought you made some good points about the flaws, that the director should have foreseen.

I don't really know what brought this on Hans, but I get the feeling that this bothered you for a while. Seeing everyone say this movie was perfect and a masterpiece really got you angry?

I agree with you on some points. This movie is good, but it's not the masterpiece everyone pretends it to be. Christopher Nolan puts too much character in his films just to further the plot then discards them. Maybe because this was such a big movie, he got confused in the editing room or didn't plan carefully ahead, so he got left with a huge mess during some of the actions scene.

But honestly, having watched the entire serie, this movie is the best of the whole saga. I didn't like the pacing in the first film, I thought also the main problem was that it had too much vilains.

If you disliked this movie, I suggest you don't go see sequel, The Dark Knight Rises. Because the flaws you hate about this movie are like a thousand-fold.

Personnaly, I think Christopher Nolan greatest movie to date was Memento.

Well constructed review Hans. You were able to make some really good points, yet, it's not enough for me to call it a bad movie, but yeah, it's not a masterpiece either.

btw, you should definitely make more reviews, I really enjoyed this. :)

I watched your whole video, so the least you could do is read my observation. But I don't really mind. And yeah, making a fictional Chinese city is a good point.

i always enjoy hearing your reviews in that precise emotional driven voice.
i do admit, the movie was choppy as hell like a country on a partition, but joker always made me giggle badly. Not because heath was playing a madman laughing like a brainless idiot, but one who tried to execute brilliant plans in redundancy whilst exuding his inhuman qualities while acting like a complete smartass remark.

Great review; it's been a long time since i sat down and listened to one longer than 15 minutes.
I guess the majority of people from newgrounds have a way with getting and keeping attention whether it be witty, clever, funny, informative , or pointed out ridiculousness thrown in the mix.

Thanks again hans, we should should catch up again sometime in the future.

I really like listening to you talk. You have good reasoning and a humorous edge to your voice in particularly scathing moments.

Do you like Batman Begins? Just wondering because you say that the movie seems less like a batman movie because he, as you pointed out, isn't very important in the story, where as, in the first movie, he is.

* I still don't like the movie...

btw after watching the film again I must say I still the don't the movie. but not for the technical flaws you pointed out. Though if the movie was a bit more compelling as an actual Batman movie those flaws probably wouldn't be as glaring. I definitely feel you went off the deep end on got a bit too nitpicky.

Its just a bland movie, with zero atmosphere.

how did u get the footage? did u download it or something? if you did... link plz!!!

just finished watching it again.
the judge looks up before the explosion because the letter she was given simply read "Up"

lol

By the way, could you possibly do an analysis on ME3 ending, the debacle itself, or the game as a whole if you played it? I just love your in-depth breakdowns and would love to hear your opinion on the matter.

Weird, I also thought the Dark Knight was just ok and came out of the movie theater a bit disappointed.

Prometheus.
Also, you forgot the part where they first find the hanging guy dressed as batman... where the fuck is he hanging from.
I do disagree with the Joker's poor character development, I'm pretty sure they really wanted him to be this completely mysterious guy, that's why he always lies about how he got his scars. We weren't suposed to know where he comes from, and that works for me.
Great review, you should do these more often.

About a third way through the review, it's very long. But I thought I'd just jump in now.

While you have a point with some of the flaws you pointed out (you're way off on a lot), your solutions to these problems are 50 times worse than the original. Did I just hear you say that Alfred should just ring Fox whenever he needs some gadgets? How exactly would that look on screen? Both Alfred and Lucius fulfill two very different practical roles in Bruce's life. You say that if it was all that way, we'd all have "one less character to worry about". That's fine, I guess. But later in the review, you talk about the amount of disposable characters and how that's shoddy writing. I don't think you could get any more disposable than a pretty important character that only interacts with Alfred on a phone. Infact, if it was that way, I believe you'd be complaining about that in your review.

It also feels like you're WAY off on Ramirez. To the point where I'm questioning if you understood why she was there at all. You're dead on about her severe lack of screen time, but she wasn't just there for forced empathy, nor should we have to empathise with every single character in the film by the way (which it feels like you were saying at one point). No one is suppose to really care about her mother in the hospital, infact it's mostly suppose to go unnoticed. Her sick mother was just leverage so that the Joker could manipulate her into betraying Gordon. Without that little plot, there'd be no motivation for her to be a bad guy, which would be worse writing. She wasn't there to "create sympathy when the joker blows up the hospital" at all. We're not suppose to be thinking about her at all.

7/19/12 AlmightyHans responds:

i don't mean ring like you see him on the phone. i mean like it's someone they talk about. like once bruce tells alfred his plan. aflred could make a suggestion. bruce the adds "alright ask fox if he has a surplus of bla bla" so then batman suits up.

the idea is, yes he exists and he's talked about. he just doesn't make the movie 30 minutes longer by basically being Alfred #2

Okay. Before I spill my thought, let me say that this is written as I was watching the video, so it is in a chronological order with a video. Therefore, it shouldn't be hard to follow. Okay, so:
Lucius Fox, he can provide Batman with gadgets. Alfred can't. How are they "copy characters"? Ramirez was unneccesary, but how the hell would she try to beat joker in intergotiation room after he provokes her. A man was obviously needed for that scene. Russian model. Now I think you are just nitpicking there. Batman always disappearing. Well...yeah. That is what he was trained for. Club scene. Maybe it makes no sense, but how would Batman possibly know when and if crime boss will go to the bathroom. Batman appearing in front of Harvey Dent right after breaking mobsters legs. Who says those two scenes happens right one after another in the movies time frame. That is what I call movie magic. How he finds Dent? You got me there. Bus going away, police to late and nobody notice that. Yep, they fucked up there. China part and ruining magic of fictional Gotham city. Oh, pardon. Fictional AMERICAN Gotham city. So it can co exist with China without ruining the experience, right? He had to get that chinese mobster because getting him means information for getting all other gotham criminals to jail. With that he is saving gotham, it just so happens he had to go somewhere else to save it. Mobile part was a major flaw of the movie. Mobster saying that Joker is "nobody" is just his way of comforting himself that they will get rid of him and he probably hopes that bank heist was just a stroke of luck for joker. Trying to open a van like a tuna can. More like trying to cling on it so he can get to the window. Going out without a costume. He has time to suit up when Joker is about to kill major in a matter of minutes. Saving rachel by falling and letting joker go after all that party chrashing? With that one I totally agree with you. The jousting between joker and batman. How the hell would he break joker's legs with a batpod? he would probably kill him, and batman doesn't kill (or does he?). Joker wouldn't chickened out, he knew that Batman wouldn't kill him. Gordon faking his death. Movie perfectly clear explain why was that done. Jokers goons are taken care of by other other members of police force. I'm running out of characters here, so, just to say, try not to nitpick so much.

7/19/12 AlmightyHans responds:

I'm not going to read you just spilling your guts passively as you watch the movie. but the only thing that stood out from your block of text was the capital letters AMERICAN...

Why not make a fictional chinese city at least? They are in Hong Kong.
