Circuit Skirmish 2

"Great Job!"

submission: Circuit Skirmish 2
date: July 14, 2008

Major improvement from the last. I honestly do like the fact that you toned down the humor in it, but still had some subtle elements of it. You really know how to direct an action sequence. No complaints here.

Author's Response:

Yeah thanks! Since it had a bit more of a serious atmosphere, I toned down the humor. Seems to fit in well for this attempt.

Black & White

"Interesting"

submission: Black & White

You did some great sound mixing in this, felt very smooth, when usually sound effects used in flash animations are more like placed in fixed action. but this almost had an ambience to it. I think where you could have improved is in the area of shot placement. I love the black and white style you went for, but it seems that the angles you chose, with the simplistic backgrounds and all the characters looking exactly he same made it hard to pick up on what was going on at times. Then it became more of a montage of gun firing and bullets breaking heads open, rather than a sequence of things.

I liked the more stealthy gunfight as well. these stick movies tend to just be "PAPAPOW POOM BOOM POW" stuff. honestly, i think Krinkels is the only one who has really pulled that stuff off because he cleverly ties dark humor into the action.

But this still is, none the less, pretty good for a stick gunfight. keep it up.

Author's Response:

Wow man thanks,

Really appreciate your review. The sound is becoming a more and more important part of my animations.

Thanks, espescially because you dont exactly like sticks xD

Xenorealms Intro

"ha."

submission: Xenorealms Intro

I would give you a 2 but the animation itself isn't terrible. First off, I'm not an anime person, in fact i can't stand most of it. But ignoring the fact i dislike anime and seeing this movie on it's own... these sort of fan made 'wishful thinking' videos makes me a bit sick. like no joke, i needed to drink some peptobismal after i saw this. how sad, like it's giant orgy of characters. it's sort of sad looking at this animation. And this attempt at mimicking what the japanese already attempt doing sickens me. you know, that single piano key music with some annoying woman squealing out random 'touching' words hoping to hit your soul with emotion, but constantly miss.

i can see the whole 'Anime Justice League' aspect that you mentioned in you comments. And at first it does sound like a cool idea, but after actually putting them together you come to realize that these characters just don't go together, they are each from really different worlds as opposed to the super heroes in the justice league, they go go together really well. But then i thought about THAT myself just now and realized that that's what most anime is, a bunch of weird ass characters that don't go together well just to cover the biggest taste range as possible to have a big fan base to sell their shit to.

i know i went off on a rant, i don't really tend to do this often. i kinda went down the Squeaky Road there. Sorry, i guess your movie just pleaded for me to express my opinions about anime.

p.s. sorry, i love you.

Author's Response:

Please note: Is the last time I'll answer rude comments like this because regardless of what people like you think, I always love animating and will continuing animating. That's what is Newgrounds is about. Sounds preachy?Maybe? But dude...you're 18 and I couldn't less. But the fact you responded to my animation, proves one thing.....I made you feel special, princess.

How 2 Succeed on NG pt.2

"ha!"

date: July 1, 2008

I love the way you stress specific words in your delivery. thought it was funny how you totally ripped on Tomamoto and such. I'm pretty sure i was involved in some of the mockery there too :)

i find it so ironic how in the end these movies are just parodies with bad voice acting that only point out already completely obvious flaws in the flash movies submitted to Newgrounds. I'm assuming that's completely intentional.

Super Mario Hyadain

"um."

date: June 21, 2008

honestly, you had lot's of potential choosing this song. but it just wasn't too inventive honestly. the music was orgasmically energetic but the animation was just dumbed it down. It only consisted of a bunch of close up still images of little anime characters dressing up as the mario characters with flapping mouths that don't even synch to the lyrics.

hm. maybe i'm just being too picky, after all it is anime, and those are the reasons why i never got into it.

I dislike it when people make mediocre animation over a clever song that they didn't write.

June 6, 2008

Author's Response:

Actually, Paul did write that song and performs it at The Second City in Las Vegas. Being a close personal friend of Paul, he asked me to make a goofy flash animation for it. You can see more of our stuff at www.uglycouchshow.com. Thanks!

Tank Epic

"wow"

submission: Tank Epic
date: May 1, 2008

that was well done. funny how JAZZA also made a D submission, specifically tankmen. I assume you chose tankmen cause they ar characters that can be easily placed into the 3D world and still look nice. this is obviously epic, but the only thing that it needed was some nice sound effects and it would have been perfect then. But of course, still works really well.
