Lol. Hahaha. Nice description of Joker. xD As if we couldn't see it sooner. But you're right, he is very flat, and really doesn't have much to him. Like most villains we see these days. They just get popped into the story, and want to do this and that. xO

-If Nolan would have said anything about the Joker's origin, he wouldn't have been able to tell those two different stories about his scars, which makes for such a wicked development.
-Anarchy is his motive
-Yes, anarchy is stupid. But that makes you hate his character even more.
-How realistic is a movie where a man can survive with a face so burnt that you can clearly see his skull? That shit would get infected.
-The Joker has always been a crazy fucker.

No disrespect, but I think it's one of the most brilliant mainstream movies of our time.

Love you!
~HJ (snicker)

-how does telling two big lies that together last around 5 minutes of film serve as good development for the character. there are shorter and more effective ways of describing that the joker is a crazy guy who doesn't even have his own memories in order, or that he's just a big bull-shitter.

-"anarchy: Absence of government; a state of lawlessness due to the absence or inefficiency of the supreme power; political disorder." so essentially, chaos.

-No one hates the joker. Are you fucking kidding me? He's the funniest villain in the world, it's always fun to see him.

-Listen, I personally REALLY liked two-face because of that. I personally HATE this whole 'realistic' take on batman, but that's what everyone seems to be bragging about... 'it's realistic'. But I think that not only are the new Batmans an unbalanced world of realism and not realism. but the realism factor just takes away everything that made batman what it was. So I'm just trying to show how unrealistic this fucking movie is to all those realism whores. People see things way too superficially. Suspend your disbelief for god sakes.

-Yes, the Joker has ALWAYS been a crazy fucker. Trust me, I am a HUGE batman fan. But he had his reasons, and goals and he has this very defined relationship with batman that took over 60 years to flesh out. Why take a really big step back
and take away the essentials and make him this mysterious, almost supernatural force of crime? Why? because when you try to apply batman into the real world it becomes boring. And that is what the Joker is used as in the movie.

with all these responses to your response, The Joker in The Dark Knight is still:

A meaningless, motiveless, inhuman, supernatural force of crime that serves as an random, lame, obstacle factory to give the film some lame purpose. And comic relief.

The dark knight is just unfinished, like most books, movies and animations out there..

The writing about why Batman and Joker do what they do is just bad.
That Joker is a anarchist and 'wants to burn the whole world' is just what others see him as. Anarchist is just a word. It's not what he is.
Call him a psycho or a sociopath and you're there.

That he doesn't have any real flaws is kinda right though... But, see it how anybody likes. He doesn't have anything to lose.
His flaws is just his insanity. Without the morals or understanding, he's confused.
No friends or place. He may be somewhat of a flat character, but thats just the writings fault. But because he's a sociopath. It gets kinda complicated.
Not the movie mind you, just the insanity part. Lots of people seem confused about that.

Ah yes, talking about the Joker's origin wouldn't let him tell his two different scar stories. I mean, cmon. That is some wicked development. That's what people lined up to see.

That and to see a dead actor that wasn't even that good in previous movies but is now a posthumous god.

I'm sorry. what do you mean?

the thing about the joker isnt his character, its what his character represents in the movie, and in a movie so much about good and evil, he's the evil, which means hes allowed to be insane and confusing and psychotic.

so people are telling me that this movie, consisting of very flat characters (or 'icon of evil' and 'icon of good'), is an amazing movie? No.

And Batman is not an icon of good. He is not, by far, an icon of good in this movie. In fact, I can hardly see how he can even be considered a hero at all.

Also, his level of evil is too supernatural to match up with the established 'realism' of the new batman world. Therefore, doesn't work.

you are a fucking idiot and a fag
good kuck on hyping out your shit
if you see a load of blams just keeping your shit .. shit
just know its me and my beloved double accounts

if you respond it means you're a fag
owned in advance.

first off, I am a fag. and faggotry is contagious, so you've already been owned in advance yourself by posting a comment here.

And I see you as an idiot for obviously loving a movie so much you take offense when someone observes it's flaws and contradictions. Reminds me of some hysterical christian when defending 'his' Bible.

And I don't see how I am being an idiot for observing the movies I see and have an opinion of my own.

Also, what's this you say about blams and hype?

p.s. i'd like to know what kuck means.

WHY SO SERIOUS Hans?
HAHA
but seriously i dont know why u hate the movie so much
i thought it was a terrific movie.
and know one could redo the joker better then heath ledger.
so we know there no sequal.shame eh.

i dont get how you say hes super human. hes not.
he just has ways to get out of things.
and he know batman wont kill him cause its batmans one rule.

and yes realism?its based on a fucking comic. why the fuck does it have to be real?
a billionare puts on a mask at night and fights crime
yes i dont think so.

i take your points of view and yes some are good points
but man cmon. it was a brilliant movie.
(btw my joke up the top was sick ok. so laugh at it)
dtill love u and ur work dude

Jonypushhard.

I personally hate the realism in the new batman movies. In fact. I think it's what destroyed batman in these new movies. So i'm not demanding more realism. BUT 'realism' is what people keep glorifying in these movies. That is what people say is an improvement. And the movie has established a very real tone. Now, I find it weak, lame, and unbelievable when the movies use very unreal things to get away from plot holes. The fantastical elements are used as easy way out. And the contrast of this very realistic world with sudden unreal events breaks the movie. People praised Batman Begins for being real, and now are saying "But it's based off a comic book" as some poor defense against the horribly written sloppy clunky story and somehow refuse to admit what a bad story it is.

I know i'm sounding like a total prick, but when it comes to The Dark Knight, I get really touchy. I guess since I plan to work in the film industry some day, it makes me really sad seeing the audience I'm going to have in the future and how that audience is growing worse and worse.

I was sarcastically agreeing with HandsomeJake about the scar stories. And how a majority of the Dark Knight (and the Joker's) popularity came from Heath Ledger's death

ah, good one.

"like a 57 year old virgin nun is for a thick black cock" hahahah clearly a reference to your RAPE movie. made me laugh
anyway, nice talking you are doing, it really put me thinking about all of this
salutes

that's good. I appreciate that. All i want to do here is make people watch movies, not just see them. ;)

I never understood the story of The Dark Knight. It had no background towards The Joker since he was introduced from wearing a mask. I actually wanted to learn about him and believe me, Heath did a great job, but I actually feel like his talent got wasted from such a senseless character. After watching it twice in July I only learned that The Joker is a bank robber who ripped off some mob dealers and toyed with Batman for his own enjoyment. Plus he never even fucking died in the end which really dropped my balls (literally), I wanted Batman to just let the fucker fall.

You're not alone in hating this film, well, I don't necessarily hate it, the background was the only thing that irritated me.

listen, i'm totally over reacting, I don't HATE the film... i just think it has lots and lots and lots and lots of flaws. and it ticks me off how people don't see them and can enjoy it so much. It just seems that people are capable of enjoying shit shoveled into their mouth as long as it's hyped up and well marketed. So that emotion piles up to my opinion of the movie, causing me to say i HATE it.

good points, but then again, this unceertainity is part of the character´s charm.

I personally when i eventually got around to seeing the movie, didn't really like it much

It might have been for the reasons you said, but I think it was the fact that I had some friends who were in love with it and kept talking about it and told me the best parts. Also I one of my friends can recite any line of the jokers in the film... so basically I think seeing it after everybody else results in a poor experience due to expectations.

that's not even liking the movie though, what your friends do. That's just fanboy-ism. Like, blind intake.

Okay I HATED "Batman Begins" but I LOVED "The Dark Knight" but honestly Batman sucked in both. The Joker and Two face, heck even Commissioner Gordon made the movie likable. I don't see why you didn't like Joker.
He was exactly what he was in the comics and more. Just really crazy and lets face it Batman is as crazy as him just not homicidal. Thats a good reason he has a beef against the Bat.
Hes a freak, like him.

Joker was not exactly like the one in the comics. The only similarity is that he is a clown-like villain.

yum
