This sounds like something that Dean Packis would come up with, minus any sense of humor. As for Lenkobiscuit, this movie may have something in common with Mother 3, but District 9 was similar to the TV show Alien Nation.

Yo Hans! Haven't gotten round to seeing this film yet, but Moviebob recommended it for pretty much the same reasons, it's a film that works on different levels as opposed to Human Centipede which just relies on grossing out your mind with the sheer "URGH WTF" of the whole thing. Guess i better go see it!
Also, you still popping down to London in August?
The Fly is probably my favorite horror-suspense movie of all time, glad it was mentioned. I've been wanting to see Splice for awhile and guess I'll have to go see it soon.
Gotta disagree with the intermission bit though. Maybe it's just me personally, but having an intermission just stops the story dead. I remember seeing King Kong (also another movie with Adrien Brody, wierd) in a theater that happened to give intermissions for longer movies; it stopped right in the middle of the big insect-cavern scene and I was left there pretty pissed. After it (intermission) ended there was alot more talking and I couldn't get back into it.
It's funny, the comment way above mine, because the first thing I thought of when I saw the trailers for SPLICE was Species

Haha, glad someone spoiled the sex scenes for me. Now I won't go see it. That's why I don't watch TV or movies. I don't need a disturbing sex scene to make me 'think' about evolving social issues.
