I didn't really read your post all the way through, but I saw MIlk recently too and I enjoyed it for the most part, it was a little boring though.

didn't find it boring, but it wasn't perfect. It was kind of scattered scene wise and some scenes that were potentially good, didn't give themselves enough time to absorb. in the end i have few complaints. was enjoyable.

Dude I agree..

I heard they're making a sequel about the bisexual rights movement called "half-and-half"

i believe marlon manson is directing that one.

you're an intelligent man mr. sharken

haha

Oh man,
this is the most intelligent thing I've anyone say in a long while.
I agree with everything you've said, my friend.
"Groups of Individuals"
How people will pick a side in the name of individuality,
only because other people do it.
and the perspective bit,
I've been living by that for the longest time.

I find it rather sad how people can dilute things
with their mindlessness and thoughtlessness.
How people pick sides of often times rather noble causes,
but not because they're noble causes, nor for any other real reason.
You can always tell who those people are, when they duck out because
the going gets tough.

And I think Im ranting.
So I'll leave this at that.
You gots a good mind boyy.
Dont let them dilute it.

well it's completely cool to post a rant reply. my post is a rant anyways. plus you're not ranting obnoxiously, so it's cool.

gay pride parade is bad!? ummmm helllo, folsom street fair

holy shit... i had no idea about this 'folsom street fair'... that's just wrong. that' nothing to celebrate publicly about. god damn, people are lowly loosing touch of respect. Those kind of things are personal, an especially sexual fetishes. That's personal shit.

I see you've read The Kite Runner. Haven't watched the movie but I want to, I can't find any friends who want to watch it with me. They just make fun of me if I bring up that I want to see it.
Thing is, I HATED Brokeback Mountain, another so-called gay rights movie. It was a terrible movie in my opinion, which only got all its hype because of the gayness, and I'm afraid that all the hype that Milk is getting is because of similar reasons.

i haven't seen Brokeback Mountain for the similar reason that it feels like it's the gay part that only makes it stand out, and i am not thrilled to see a movie that depends on only one element of it to be 'good'. Milk though, wasn't a terrible movie, but yes people are going to like it for the wrong reasons. the blind, stupid, cattle reasons. It was enjoyable to watch, a nice story about an interesting man. It wasn't boring and it was pretty intense towards the end. But by chance this thing came out with perfect timing with prop 8 and such, giving people more reason to praise a movie with an element fresh in their minds to agree with.

I drink Milk. Ok?

making long speeches apparently runs with the gays.

<3

Fighting for gay rights is so old, its all about the muslim to christian converts now, boy those guys have it hard. Sounds like an interesting movie though, will have to give it a gander.

I mostly agree with everything you said, but I think you're being slightly pessimistic. There are as many intelligent, altruist persons as there are shitty, selfcentered ones. They're just more discreet. Also, there IS middle ground, ir so I'd like to think. I still have hope things will eventually change, we need more and more solidarity each time. There's no need to be hateful towards anything.. not even towards hateful people (THAT WOULD IRONIC LULZ).

I guess trying to fix all the bad in the world is what gives many people a reason to live, better to have a reason and fight for it, or even laugh at it, than loose all hope and live a shitty depressing life.

Funny how we humans are pretty much the only species on earth that fight for reasons other than food or danger. or life itself. for religion, for territories, for different opinions. I still believe we can change tho. we WILL change :D

Dont let naked gay people on streets sadden you :)

One thing you'll come to discover is that no, there aren't as many intellegent people ass shitty ones. And that's not pessimism, that's just reality. And yes there is middle ground but people can't settle on it because when you act on impulse, which is what most people do, you're narrows down to two decisions, One side or the other.

I have hope they will change, but humans have been like this since the beginning of time. I don't think it will change any sooner or later. I'm starting to think that the human species is a bunch of giant bodies, masses of people. and the reason why it's mostly impulsive radical people is because being like that brings people together (social groups). and naturally the biggest group is the strongest, and for Humans it's just this infinite battle of these amoeba body masses to keep clashing and clashing until they find what will result in the most 'dominant' of these mass bodies.

lol 'change'! you've got some Obama fever? :P

Homophobia is gay, huh?
Let them live their way and they let us live ours.
Respect unto all as is respect unto self.
Peace on earth FOR ALL.

...I really do wanna see that film.

seriously, you can be homophobic. that's your own opinion, but don't let it influence some one else's life. keep it to yourself. And you know what if you're a parent go ahead and teach t to your kids, parents should have the right to teach anything to their kids, it's their decision and right. Just also teach your kids to keep it to themselves as well. that applies for everyone and everything.

Do you live in Southern California or something? You seem pretty big about this event.

I live in San Francisco

I never understood the whole gay pride thing. It's like, if straight people went parading in the street for a "straight pride" festival, people would be all up in their face about it.

You're right though, people are too attached to their opinions. I've recently learned that there's nothing more liberating that realizing there's no reason to have opinions about anything.

lol: "I've recently learned that there's nothing more liberating that realizing there's no reason to have opinions about anything."

that's a good sentence. Honestly though. I think straight people should have their own parade, so that they stop complaining, because no one would be up in their face. In fact I think it could be cool. Thing is, gays, like jews because they were so excluded throughout a good portion of human history, they were forced to live in secrecy or in one way shape or form, live together.

because they lived like this, they learned to work together and set aside all their other differences and let themselves be united by their one similarity, no matter what race color one was. So lots of gays have this talent of organizing events and such real well, maybe straight people are too lazy to make their own, but honestly i don't see why not, you guys just make a parade and stop worrying about it.

Them gays sound like trouble... I surely wouldn't want to run into a gang of gays my trash cans need to stay upright.

Umm, i'm not american and i was being sarcastic... sorry you had to snap like that before getting what i actually meant...
try not to assume things ok? ;)

Finally.
Someone gets it.

please explain...

Why is is called Milk?

the guy's name is Harvey Milk. It's the main character's last name.

wait, all stealing is bad :( even stealing virginity!?
fffffffffffffffuck!

"stealing" someone's virginity. meaning, taking it from them when they don't want to loose it yet. A form of rape.

Well said, my friend. From a psychological and philisophical standpoint, I agree with you whole-heartedly. Everything is subjective. Everything in life is debatable, including this statement. Good and evil are a farce; they are mere concepts we have created as an attempt to instill a sense of order into this chaotic existence. I salute you on this well-written and well-argued, not to mentioned rather unbiased, argument on this important subject.
